Frequently Asked Questions
I'm new to custom cremation jewelry! Where do I start?
Thank you for interest! Once you find the piece you’d like on the website http://miraclememorial.com and order it, you will get instructions in your e-mail on how and where to send ashes (and/or other materials) to us. Basically we’ll just need 1 tsp ashes per stone, in a double zip loc bag and labeled per instructions. It’s very easy! You will send us the tracking number, and we’ll update you from there. Let me know if you have any other questions! I’m happy to help. Feel free to take a look at our Instagram for ideas, to see what add-ons look like with ashes, and to see what we’ve made for others: http://instagram.com/miraclememorial
How do I send my ashes? How much do you need?
We will need at least 1 tsp of ashes per stone. We ask that you send the right amount to be used efficiently. Any remaining ashes will be scattered.
You should receive an e-mail to the e-mail address you entered upon ordering with the complete instructions on how and where to send in ashes to be made into jewelry or keepsake. If you do not receive anything, please make sure of two things: You completed your order, no payment is pending, and you receive confirmation of your order through your e-mail. The e-mail from Miracle Memorial did not go to your Spam folder. If it is there, please unspam as you will be receiving messages regarding your order through that same e-mail address. If you've tried these, please e-mail us at [email protected] to let us know that you didn't receive your instructions.
What is your turnaround time?
For Standard turnaround orders, please allow about up to 60 business days for your ashes jewelry to be completed, shipped, and delivered to you once I receive your ashes in the mail. I don't have ashes. Can you just use fur?
Yes of course! We can either combine many different inclusions such as ashes with fur or hair or whiskers. We can even use the dried flowers or dirt you saved from the funeral or a special occasion or use these alone!
Can you make something from my pet or just from humans?
Yes! We make from both your beloved animals and humans.
How do I know if the ashes I sent will be used for my cremation keepsake?
Amazingly, ashes look so different from each other based on color, texture, and size due to how different crematoriums will process them. There is no question that they cannot be mistaken for another. We do not mix your ashes with color or chemicals, so it's very easy to tell that what you send is what you will be seeing in your stone. The same cannot be said for other cremation jewelry stores that alter the appearance of ashes.
Can you send back my ashes?
We ask that you send the right amount of ashes included in your instruction e=mail so we can make use of it efficiently. it's not a problem to send more than the required amount as long as you are aware that we scatter any remaining ashes by default after storing for two weeks post shipment. We store remaining ashes for 2 weeks for all orders in the event that a package gets lost or damaged in transit.
We can send back remaining ashes along with your completed order upon request, which might incur additional fees depending on the weight.
When you order, you have the choice to have us scatter any remaining ashes in a natural body of water, or have us keep them for up to 30 days if you’d like additional pieces made. After the 30 day period for keeping, we will scatter them.
What is your insurance policy? Do you do repairs?
Yes, every piece of jewelry automatically comes with a lifetime warranty. This warranty covers damages that are at no fault of yours. Each order comes with care instructions, so you will need to follow these to avoid damage. For damages caused by you, you will just need to pay for the shipping both ways and a small fee as low as $10 for minor repairs.
Is there a deadline to sending ashes in?
There is no deadline to get ashes and other inclusions if you don’t need your jewelry on a certain date. If you do, the deadlines will be posted on the website’s checkout page or you can calculate based on the turnaround time from when we receive your package.
Can I drop off ashes and/or pick up my order?
Yes! We're located in Baltimore, Maryland. If you'd like to drop off your inclusions and/or pick up your package instead of sending it through the mail, please let us know ahead of time by contacting us.
Do you have a physical store I can visit?
Miracle Memorial works through your local funeral home, veterinarian's office, hospital and other physical establishments to be our storefront.
We have a studio where the magic happens, but we do not allow letting in customers to shop inside. We can only arrange times to show you settings in person right outside our studio if you prefer, drop off ashes, or pick up your order.
Can you just make the ash stone, and I can have it set by our jeweler on my setting of choice?
Unfortunately, we cannot make and sell just the stone, because the stone is permanently affixed to the bezel. Attempting to take the stone out will most likely result in it getting destroyed. Removing the stone from the setting also removes the warranty. Thanks for asking , and we hope you find a setting you really like from our shop! You may also request a specific style by contacting us at [email protected]
Will my jewelry look just like what's on the website?
Since every cremate jewelry we make is handmade and not mass produced, each piece will be different from each one. The setting will be the same, but the stone itself will be different. Each stone is unique to the ashes quality, texture, and color. Some ashes have chunky or dark pieces, some are fine like sand and are light. They are all beautiful and can be made to come “alive” in your stone. Also, the findings (jump ring, clasp, etc) may or may not be the same as pictured because we use what supply we have at the moment that will look good with your piece.
What is the difference between gold/rose gold filled, vermeil, gold/rose gold stainless, and solid gold?
Basically in appearance, gold filled looks shinier and brighter than gold stainless. It hardly tarnishes. Gold-filled is legally required in the US to contain 5% or 1/20 real gold by weight. It is a more affordable alternative to solid gold. Gold stainless steel also does not ever tarnish. It’s durable and will last longer than gold filled. It’s duller and darker in appearance compared to gold filled. Real gold is applied as a thin layer over stainless steel. It is hypoallergenic.
Vermeil is gold or rose gold plating over 925 Sterling silver. It tarnishes faster than gold filled. Once it tarnishes, you should see the silver underneath.
Our 14k solid gold contains 58.3% gold and will not tarnish. Our 10k solid gold contains 41.7% gold. Gold is very soft, so the lower the karat (less gold, more alloy), the more durable and scratch resistant. The higher the karat, the more prone to scratching and bending. However, higher karat also means more value and more hypoallergenic.
What the do the different stone add-ons look like with my ashes?
There are no add-ons in any of the main photos of every listing, just ashes. However, not all ashes are the same. Some are dark and have chunky pieces and some are light and are very fine. The look of the stone will completely depend on the texture and size of the ashes you provide. Every stone will be unique for this reason.

Do you make diamonds from ashes?
No. When shopping for our diamond cremation jewelry, you will see the diamonds on the metal setting surrounding the cremation stone. The cremation stone itself is not a diamond. It is a glass stone made of DNA sources such as ashes/fur/hair. The diamonds are meant to accentuate and frame your cremation stone, which is the true centerpiece.
Unlike diamonds made from ashes, our glass cremation stones are completely unique from each other, meaning no two stones are alike. Your loved ones' cremains will be clearly visible in all its uniqueness and glory in the stone.
Are your diamonds real?
Our genuine diamonds are real, meaning they are mined from the earth and are not lab created. Our moissanite diamonds however are lab created. Natural moissanite diamonds (silicone carbide) are rarer than your regular genuine earth diamond because they come from special circumstances (such as craters formed by meteorites), so the majority of commercially sold moissanite is going to be man made.
In the Mohs Scale of Hardness, moissanite ranks at 9.25, while genuine diamonds are at a 10. Both of which are very hard, durable, and suitable for daily wear.
For their brilliance, moissanite diamonds are actually higher on the reflective index (2.65 – 2.69) and emits flashes of yellow, grey, or rainbow despite it being labeled as colorless. Genuine diamonds however do not have flashes of colors and is completely colorless.
You can choose either moissanite diamonds or genuine diamonds when shopping for any of our diamond cremation jewelry.
How do I care for my cremation jewelry?
Do not wear around water or condensation. Do not swim, bathe, shower, be in a sauna, or exercise in your jewelry. This is very important not just for the metals but also because DNA is organic material and can mold with overexposure to water. Keep your jewelry away from direct sunlight and heat. Store in a cool, dark place like a jewelry box. It’s best to keep in an air-tight Zip loc bag. Do not apply topical products on it such as lotions, creams, powder, essential oils, household cleaning products, etc. Take off when doing heavy chores, cleaning, gardening, or at the beach where small particles can get stuck in small crevices of your jewelry. Keep children and animals away from your jewelry where they can pull and tug.
